Why a career in tax?
Having started my career as a graduate trainee in audit at Pricewaterhouse Coopers, I particularly enjoyed studying tax as part of my professional exams, hence the decision to specialise in tax.
For me the most enjoyable aspect of being a tax adviser is that I get to meet all sorts of interesting clients and solve their tax problems on a daily basis by navigating through the complexities of the tax legislation. Tax policies have a direct impact on all businesses and most individuals and I find it extremely rewarding to be able to add value to clients’ businesses by helping them achieve their commercial objectives in a tax efficient manner.
I also enjoy the variety of work I get to be involved in. This might sound cliche but no two days are the same in tax!
My best (and worst) bits
My family and friends would describe me as an optimist with an outgoing personality and a non-existent sense of direction!
Three words to describe ETC
Reliable, honest and knowledgeable.
Alternative career choice
Professional tennis player.
