Senior Manager, Head of ETC Tax – Midlands

Zeeshan is a Chartered Tax Adviser and is responsible for leading ETC’s Midlands offering. He enjoys advising private businesses and high net worth individuals on a wide range of tax issues.

“Tax policies have a direct impact on all businesses and most individuals and I find it extremely rewarding to be able to add value to clients’ businesses by helping them achieve their commercial objectives in a tax efficient manner.”

Zeeshan has a particular specialism in advising owner managed businesses and their stakeholders at all stages of the business life cycle, and regularly advises on matters including corporate transactions, tax efficient business structuring, employee share incentives, R&D tax relief, inheritance tax and wealth protection strategies. Zeeshan also regularly advises on property related tax matters.

    Life before ETC

Zeeshan qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser with a specialist tax consultancy, followed by a brief but enjoyable period at a regional independent practice. Zeeshan then moved to the Big Four where he was involved in providing tax advice on UK and cross border corporate M&A transactions.

Zeeshan’s most recent role prior to joining ETC was as a Senior Manager at a mid-tier firm of chartered accountants, where he was responsible for providing tax advisory services to owner managed businesses and SMEs across the Midlands.

    Why a career in tax?

Having started my career as a graduate trainee in audit at Pricewaterhouse Coopers, I particularly enjoyed studying tax as part of my professional exams, hence the decision to specialise in tax.

For me the most enjoyable aspect of being a tax adviser is that I get to meet all sorts of interesting clients and solve their tax problems on a daily basis by navigating through the complexities of the tax legislation. Tax policies have a direct impact on all businesses and most individuals and I find it extremely rewarding to be able to add value to clients’ businesses by helping them achieve their commercial objectives in a tax efficient manner.

I also enjoy the variety of work I get to be involved in. This might sound cliche but no two days are the same in tax!

    My best (and worst) bits

My family and friends would describe me as an optimist with an outgoing personality and a non-existent sense of direction!

    Three words to describe ETC

    Reliable, honest and knowledgeable.

    Alternative career choice

    Professional tennis player.
