Sophie and Thomas were part of a team of professional volunteers who joined up with students from Lancaster University and University of Central Lancashire to run the NWTC to provide pro bono income tax support.
The clinic supports low-income clients by providing supervised clinics assisting with this such as:
‘I really enjoyed my time volunteering for the NWTC. I worked with a number of talented students who really showed an interest in the cases brought to the clinic and we managed to get some great results for the clients. It was great to be involved in the programme over the last 12 months and I hope to be involved again in the future.’

The NWTC liaises with HMRC on the client’s behalf and demystifies their tax issues. The aim is to help straighten out their tax issues and help educate and empower them, so they can develop their skills to manage their own tax affairs going forward.
