Background – non dom tax changes
There are many changes afoot in the tax world. Sadly, it seems that it change is the new normal. The lack of certainty being arguably the least satisfactory aspect of the system when talking to clients both inside and outside the UK.
The non dom tax changes are a prime example. Throw in to the mix, according to the Autumn Statement, an economy on the precipice and other countries actively courting wealthy internationally mobile high net worth individuals by considering i their own non dom regimes the consequences of getting could be significant.
With that in mind, many had assumed that these rules would be deferred. However, it has been confirmed that these changes will be in force from 6 April 2017.
Draft legislation concerning the non dom tax changes will be published on 5 December 2017 so we will have a day or two to analyse this before the event.
