Thank you to the 40 property professionals and advisers who came to our property tax planning seminar yesterday, held at The Mere Golf Resort & Spa, Knutsford. Following on from the presentation if you would like any further information or a meeting please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
For those who were not able to make it, our Director Andy Wood gave an overview of Property Tax planning and changes – including the new 3% Stamp Duty Land Tax (“SDLT”) rate of “additional properties” and Capital Gains Tax (“CGT”). Andy went onto to look at the restriction in interest relief for property investors discussing examples. He provided a few further opportunities to protect such investments from Inheritance Tax (“IHT”).
Andy went on to talk about Pension Led Funding (“PLF”) which is using a pension scheme to fund property investment! He then looked at Issues for land trading and development looking at Capital V income, revised rules on “profits from trading in and developing land”, double tax treaties and the revised rules on capital distributions.
He then provided an update on winding up SPVs: new capital distribution rules and finally speaking about non-doms, excluded property and uk dwellings.
