Andy Wood
Thank you to the 81 attendees at our property tax planning seminar yesterday, held at Home House in London.
For those who were not able to make it, our Director Andy Wood spoke about recent changes to the tax legislation for property investors – including income tax and Stamp Duty Land Tax (“SDLT”). He gave his views on the possibilities of using a Company and some of the potential pitfalls of incorporation. He provided a few further opportunities to protect such investments from Inheritance Tax (“IHT”).
He went on to talk about changes to the transactions in securities rules and the treatment of distributions on winding up and potentially how this might affect the operating models for property developers.
Andy then provided an update, in the context of property ownership, on the tax changes implemented in respect of non-UK resident investors over the last few years. Finally, he spoke about the proposed tax changes for non-UK domiciled individuals due in in April 2017.
